"Dot"

🔵 2025

A chameleon who cannot blend into its surroundings discovers that its difference is what ultimately connects it to others.

2D Frame-by-Frame | Drama - Allegorical

Dot was created as the practical component of my master’s thesis, investigating the effect of hue on the visual attention of children aged 8–12.

Dot Story

"Dot" – Story

A chameleon who cannot blend into its surroundings struggles with isolation and rejection among its own kind.

While the other chameleons can easily camouflage themselves, Dot stands out because its body takes on the complementary color of its surroundings.

Eventually, the other chameleons gather around Dot, transforming themselves into leaves while Dot becomes the flower at the center.

What once seemed to be Dot’s weakness becomes the very thing that makes the group stronger.

Dot Development

"Dot" – Development

The story was developed specifically for children aged 8–12, who were also the target participants of the research.

Seventy children were asked to independently write a story featuring a chameleon. Their stories were analyzed, revealing friendship and social connection as recurring themes.

A broader review of stories, poems, children's books, and other works featuring chameleons was then conducted to identify a suitable source of inspiration.

The selected source inspired the initial concept, which was subsequently adapted and developed into the final story of Dot.

"Eyes"

🔵 2022

An eyeball moves through five surreal biological forms, setting a chain of events into motion.

2D Frame-by-Frame | Experimental - Surreal - Metamorphosis

Five surreal biological forms, connected by a shared visual element -a single eyeball- seamlessly transform into one another: from a flower to a snail, a spider, a bird, and finally a fish.

Eyes Behind the Scenes

"Eyes" – Behind the Scenes

Project Overview: This project was my first experience with 2D animation and was created as a class assignment.

The brief required us to combine four separate animation exercises into a single project: transforming five forms into one another, throwing a ball, firing a cannon, and making a tree fall.

I used these technical requirements as a starting point for developing a personal visual concept.

"Eyes" – From Transformation to Action

The animation begins with a flower and follows a continuous sequence of transformations:

Flower → Snail → Spider → Bird → Fish

Once the final form—the fish—is reached, it throws a ball from the water toward the land.

The ball continues rolling across the ground until it reaches an old cannon.

The cannon fires, and the cannonball lands beside a snow-covered tree. The impact causes the ground to shake, the tree to fall, and the snow on its branches to collapse onto the ground.

The four separate class exercises were therefore integrated into a single continuous visual sequence, connecting transformation, movement, physical action, and environmental reaction.
